WORKSHOP CONTENTS Workshop Schedule:
Machinery Failure Analysis Using Advanced Problem Solving Tools
From Creative Problem Solving using Ideation - TRIZ Methodology to Machine Reliability and Failure Analysis
This 2-day course provides an introduction to creative problem solving in engineering with a review of existing problem solving methods, including the application of the Ideation - TRIZ methodology using different classical TRIZ tools for anticipatory failure determination (AFD), with an introduction to machine reliability and failure analysis as well as a review of case studies in machinery failure analysis using AFD.
COURSE TUTOR
Ass./Prof. Dr Vladis Kosse specialises in Engineering Design at the Queensland University of Technology, Australia, with many years of training experience.
DAY 1
Introduction to Creative Problem Solving:
Creative thinking and obstacles and barrier to creative thinking, tools for identifying problems such as quality function deployment; Kano model; coupled questions and value analysis; Innovative Situation Questionnaire (ISQTM) and problem formulator.
Review of existing problem solving methods
and methodologies:
The Ideation - TRIZ methodology:
Classical TRIZ (Theory of Inventive Problem Solving) and the I-TRIZ (Ideation - TRIZ methodology); Innovative Situation Questionnaire (ISQTM) and problem formulator; Anticipatory Failure Determination (AFD) and Innovation WorkBenchTM.
Problem solving session using different Classical TRIZ tools:
DAY 2
Machine Reliability and Failure Analysis Introduction:
Reliability, life cycle determination of machinery, causes of machinery failure, failure modes, cause and effect analysis, rule-based problems and event-based problems. Combining different failure analysis tools for machine reliability.
Anticipatory Failure Determination (AFDTM)
The nine-step procedure of the Anticipatory Failure Determination method and tutorial examples.
Case Studies of Machinery Failure Analysis Using Anticipatory Failure Determination (AFDTM)
At least six real case studies of machinery failure analysis using AFDTM will be discussed. Problem solving exercise will be conducted using real situational examples.
